Let’s all take a moment to sit back, relax, and COMPLETELY FREAK OUT ABOUT HAMILTON.
Someone at the Tony’s said something about how Hamilton: An American Musical is a game changer. It’s revolutionizing theatre, and it’s taking the world by storm.
And it really is. I mean, it’s everywhere. This kind of fame comes easy to the movie world, but when was the last time a Disney movie bragged about having a Broadway songwriter in their movie?
With that kind of fame and with so many heads turned to the beautifulness that is Hamilton, a lot of fantastic fan art is making its way to the world wide web.
All of a sudden I’m more than willing to listen to 2+ hours of rap music about the founding fathers. AND IF YOU THINK I CAN’T SAY EVERY SINGLE ONE OF LAFAYETTE’S LINES IN GUNS AND SHIPS then, well, you’d be right, but not for very long because I’ve got those lyrics in my hand and you can count on me to fumble my way along every time that song plays.
Two months ago I never would have thought I would be saying “Ah yes, John Laurens is so amazing.” Two months ago I didn’t even know JOHN LAUREN’S NAME. And since when did I start cracking jokes about Phillip Hamilton?!?! HUH?!?! WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?
Hamilton is changing my life quite literally. I’m starting to sound like a history nerd, when really, everything I know about the Revolutionary War is either from Hamilton or National Treasure.
Oh, and you know there’s no turning back the day you call him “Hammie”. And you’re really in deep when you name your TV after him. I can just imagine the conversation.
“… you named your television?”
“Yes, yes we did, he’s named after ALEXANDER HAMILTON, MY NAME IS ALEXANDER HAMILTON, THERE’S A MILLION THINGS I HAVEN’T DONE-”
